This is a slide I made about run, jump, throw. We have been doing it in our hub and I have really enjoyed it. Here are some of the things we learnt in the different groups.

This week we have worked on some calendar art. My calendar art is the textured landscape. It has a lot of patterns and that's what makes it unique. My favourite part is the sun because it is the main part and it looks really good. The mountain on the side also represents me because my name starts with a K. There were a lot of challenges and one of them was trying to find new patterns for everything. Something I succeeded in was making a new landscape. I like the one I have and I am very proud of my work.

This is my scene description that I did this week. We were allowed to pick our own scene and describe it. We had to use at least one kind of language feature. I found it hard trying to describe it all as well as using great vocabulary. In the end I was very proud of my description and I would love to do it again.
- Has strong adjectives
- Different sentence beginnings
- Different sentence lengths
- A simile and/or alliteration
- Has an introduction, body and conclusion
- Thoughtful word choices
- Your own goal
- how examples of single, compound and complex sentences.
As I turn my head, the most alluring sight beams before my eyes. The rugged ranges creating a breathtaking reflection in the clear blue water. Jutting trees slither along the landscape into the mountain of the cold ranges. Shiny water shimmering in the shallow, making the ideal place for a swim. Glimmering green trees at the front, cast darkness over the water like a vast tower. As I peer around, all I see is a serene landscape. A frightening dark mountain in the corner creates a spooky feel. Exquisite water allows the landscape to breath. With scorching sun shining on the top of the mountain it is the perfect place to unwind. As I am enraptured by the remarkable view, I cannot believe my eyes any more.

This week we have been optimist yachting and kayaking. I have been doing it with Rimu Love and Moriarty. I have had an amazing week and this is a slide I made after the first day. I have compared it with last years optimist yachting and I have said the things I loved about it. Optimist yachting also boosted my confidence and I hope I get to do it again. I am very proud of this and I think I did an awesome job.

This my QR code that is going on my art for the art exhibition. If you don't already know how it works, then here you go. If you have an app that scans codes then you go onto that. You will take a picture of it and you will be taken to either a site or in this case, an audio. The audio on my art will be me talking about my art, how I made it and basically the whole process. If you want to know then you can scan it here and listen to my description about my art.

This is the art I created
For our art exhibition coming up, the whole hub had to produce some sort of art. It could be a sculpture, abstract art or just a normal painting. I chose to do a painting and this is my finished art. I had to do the background first and then the face. It has a lot of wacky colours every where and that reflects my personality. The zebra took a while to draw and then it took ages to paint. I am very proud of it and I would love to do more art like this later on in the year.
This is a video of me talking about my art a bit more.

This is my art plan for the art exhibition. Everyone in the school is making something but you do it with your class. Our hub is aloud to do any art we want. It could be visual art, 3D art or even a sculpture. I chose visual art and mine is very colourful. The picture of the Zebra is what my finished painting should look like.
Later in the term, the whole school is taking part in a visual arts exhibition. You will have to make your own piece of visual art.
We are LEARNING, CREATING AND SHARING through the ARTs
Success Criteria of the art
- No larger than A3
- Must be super high quality (your absolute personal best)

This is my second Parris Goebel report. I did this one with different facts and I used a different report organizer. I have made sure that I paragraphed it properly and I tried to use better vocabulary, because that is what I am learning to put in my writing. I am very proud of this and I think it is the best report I have written this year.
22 year old Parris Goebel is a dancer, choreographer and the creator of the unique style, poly swag. World hip hop championships see her every year with the all female crew Request from New Zealand. In Auckland and Hamilton she dances in her own studio The Palace and teaches other crews from around New Zealand. She is inspiring young kids around the world and enjoying it at the same time.
Parris started dancing at the young age of 3, but at that age it was just fun and games. She always remembers it and will never forget it. When she hit 13, she discovered a love for dance and realised what dancing really meant. As a little kid, her parents were very encouraging and her dad helped her open her own studio at the age of 15. Growing up with dance really kick started her career as a professional dancer and choreographer.
The Palace dance studio sits in Auckland and Hamilton were Parris teaches. She has lead lots of crews to the world hip hop championships and is still doing that to this day. Parris now dances in the number one adult crew in the world and is the best dancer and choreographer in the world. She has been in dancing shows and competitions, and in one of her shows the tickets were draining like water, and soon the show was sold out. During her dancing career she has won 8 gold medals and been crowned body rock champion with her crew. Because of her amazing dancing and choreography, she has traveled the world to teach people through, USA, Asia, Europe, Australia and new Zealand. When she travels she does miss her family. Whenever she can she loves to get home and see them.
Other successes and awards:
In her life she has one a lot of awards including being on dancing with the stars in 2012. She has been in CirQue du solei and american idol. Don't forget about her amazing tour with Jennifer Lopez and working with jolin Tsai. Jolin tsai is the top recording artist in Korea. The South side art welcomed her as the ambassador and she was in and end of year concert. Her biggest accomplishment on t.v was definitely being on step up 5. She didn't just Choreograph for the movie but she also had an acting part.
Parris is now starting a show called so you think you can dance and helping with moon child. Moon child is a dance festival that is going to big around New Zealand. She is always trying something new and that's why she is trying rapping and being a DJ. Other than that, she is continuing with dancing and it is her first priority.

This is my reading response I did on Parris Goebel. She is a dancer and my literacy topic. I have been researching about her and know quite a lot. I will be learning about her and learning to write report bout her.
Reading Response 1- Love Literacy Groups
Your name: Kyra Byers
Who have you picked for your artist?
Why did you pick this artist (explain your reasons well)?
I have seen lots of videos of her crew dancing. I have always wanted to learn someone in the group instead of just knowing the group. I picked Parris Goebel because she was the one that stood out.
Include a picture of your artist
Include 4 facts you have learned about your artist from your first reading
- She owns a dance studio called Palace
- Parris has been dancing since 3
- She would want to choreograph for Beyonce
- She has always aspired to become a dancer

This is my second graph I have made for extension maths. This is a bar graph on wins losses and draws in rugby. I made 9 statements about my graph. My favourite statement says Australia and New zealand both had no draws. I am very proud of it and think I did a good job.

This is my art I did with Ruby and Rosemary. It represents music with a music note in the middle. It took a while and the worst thing was waiting for the glitter to dry. My favourite part was the easiest part. Cutting out the paper. I would love to do something like this again later in the term.

In the holidays I went to Rosemary's birthday party. We played pass the parcel and Martin won. Then we all went over the road to Lindsfarne. We walked into the auditorium and collected some popcorn and lollies. We watched the movie Home. It was really funny and at the end we all got up and started to dance on the stage. We then went to Breakers. We had very long table with lots of chairs so we could all fit. We all had a traffic light for a drink. They were delicious and changed into a disgusting colour when you stirred it. I had an amazing time with Rosemary and all of my friends.
All of us at the lindsfarne Auditorium.

This is my Matariki task. We had a day of doing Matariki and this is what it is based on. I am putting this on because I am really proud of it. We were learning all about Matariki by doing this and I had a lot of fun.
We are learning about Matariki
Task One: Workshop Reflection
Choose your favourite workshop. Write a reflection about what you did in your workshop.
My favourite workshop was the sewing. We learnt how to use a sewing machine and also how to hand sew. We had a pad to sew all over until we felt comfortable. After that we all got some pieces of denim and we had to sew them onto a black piece. We made it look like a the sea with big waves. We then cut out stars and a boat. We ironed them down and then we had to hand sew little crosses onto them. I enjoyed it because all of my friends were there and I learnt how to sew. I also loved the people that taught us. They did an amazing job.
This is a quick tip on how to use the sewing machine.
- Put in whatever you are going to sew and make sure the foot is up.
- Then put the foot down with the lever at the back.
- When you are ready you can put your actual foot down on the pedal but start of slowly.
- Keep the line straight and don’t make it go all crooked.
- When you get to the end put the foot up and pull the piece of fabric.
- Cut it off a little bit away from the fabric so that you don’t cut it.
- You then have finished and you can start your next piece.
- explains what the workshop was all about
- shows why and how you enjoyed it (personal voice)
- shares what you learnt
- includes a photo of the activity (hopefully with you in it)
- has that something extra special (e.g. instructions on how you could do the activity too)
Task Two: What is Matariki?
- in your own words
- summarises main ideas about Matariki
- clear and easy to understand
- has the creative “x factor”

This is my moment in time from camp. We we were learning about how to order moment in times and I quit like mine. Mine is about the kayaking part that I had to do with Georgia in the amazing race.
Kayaking leg of the amazing race.
Kayaking leg of the amazing race.
The sun was beaming onto my face. “Splash, splash, splash” The water was splashing all over my legs. We were paddling fiercely. You could faintly hear Sophia yelling go from the echo of the empty lake. There was no turning back. My frozen arms were hurting but I could just see the finish getting closer. Georgia and I were determined. We got back to Mr Ford exhausted.”Click’’ went the dripping life jacket. Down to the ground it fell as Sophia and Rosemary pulled up the kayak. My hands felt numb as I put on my shoes. My feet were wet and fingers were purple. We stood up and smiled as we ran to our next activity. `

This is my reflection on basketball. Its all about what is important and some of the things you need to do. There is a picture of me doing my skill at the end and lots of questions.
Write down five things to think about when you bounce a basketball.
- Feet shoulder width apart
- Don’t bounce the ball higher than your waist or lower than your knees
- Push the ball down with your hands and don’t just patt it
- Keep your eye on the ball and on your surroundings at the same time
- Keep your hands on the ball most of the time
What are the main four parts of basketball?
How can you protect the ball from a defender?
Keep the ball as close you as possible and don’t take to long dribbling. Have control of the ball and also keep your eyes on the ball.
What was challenging for you?
Dribbling because I was bouncing it to high
What was your favourite part?
My favourite part was the shooting because we all gotta go and it was fun just to be able to dribble it up and shoot. Even though I can’t to basketball shots I still found it pretty fun.
What would you have liked to have learned more of?
What is something you learned?
That when you dribble keep your elbow in close.
